Basel Airport
Basel Airport is one of the few airports in the world which are jointly operated
by two countries, France and Switzerland. It is run by the international
convention of 1949. Headquarter of the airport is located in Blotzheim, France.
The airport is located on French soil, and the airport has a Swiss customs area
connected to Basel by a border road. The airport is open without any border
restrictions for people coming from Switzerland, Germany and France.
History
The plan for constructing a joint French-Swiss airport started in 1930’s but was
stopped by the 2nd world war. Then it was decided in 1946 that the airport will
be constructed on the French soil at Blotzheim, 4 kilometers (2.5 mi) north of
the city and the Swiss shall bear the cost of construction. Construction of the
airport began on 8 March 1946 and the airport stared working on 8 May in the
same year.

The terminal is open round the clock and the terminal operations start at around
4 am in the morning till midnight.

Information desk
An information desk is there for the passengers and for the people at home who
want to know about any flight details. The information desk opens around 5 30 am
in the morning till midnight. It is located on level 2 of the terminal building.

Lost property office
Any object lost if found by the airport admin can be recovered by contacting
contact the Euro Airport information desk, level 2, Arrival. Any object found at
the airport is kept for 3 months and can be picked up every day from 08.00h -
19.00h for a fee of € 3.00 upon the presentation of the identification and the
proof. As per rule the airport is not responsible for any of your goods stolen
or misplaced.
Airlines Offices
There are a number of airlines offices at the airport that are working round the
clock for the service of the passengers and guiding them about their travel
plans. The airport has a total of 15 different and reputed airline offices.
Restaurants and Refreshment Facilities
Airport is divided into 3 sectors and each has its own restaurants and
refreshment centers and café’s. The sectors are French sector, the Swiss sector
and the French and Swiss sector. It has restaurants, bars, café’s, take away
shops and duty free shops for the passengers.
Basic facilities
The basic facilities at the airport consist of shops and duty free shops,
currency exchange shops, ATM cash machines, car hire service for anyone who
wants enjoy a tour of the city, a car service station, petrol station, luggage
assistance desk and internet and WIFI services for the passengers.
